06.01.08 - Publix new Greenwise store

For what it’s worth, here’s my take on the new Publix Greenwise store near us, which I visited on Saturday.

It’s a beautiful, spacious store with a deli, sitting area, and super service (at least for now).

I had hoped it would mean that I no longer had to drive to the Publix stores in the Kmart center or at Yamato and Jog, or Winn-Dixie. But sadly, I found that is not the case. The new store is not a substitute for the regular Publix stores. For instance, the new store carries no pet food or supplies, no water-softener salt, and does not carry other items that I regularly purchase at Publix.

And I found the store’s overall prices are higher on most items.

I also found the new store does not honor the offers advertised in the regular weekly Publix ad folders. They honor only those in separate Greenwise folders. Very confusing.

So, in sum, my conclusion is that the new Greenwise store may be right for you if you have gourmet tastes, a concern for organically-grown food, and a fat wallet.
